Clean Air is Important
Breathing clean air is essential to good health. Your family can spend a lot of time indoors. It’s important to make sure you are breathing the cleanest possible air. According to the CDC, the air in your home can be 2 to 5 times more polluted than the air outside. Commonly known pollutants are pollen, mold, and dust. But did you know that indoor air quality is also affected by chemicals you introduce into your home? These include chemicals from cleaners, carpets, and off gasing from other household items. At GreenBox, we have done extensive research to find products that remove pollutants from your home. Many products are available to help clean and filter the air giving you the healthy air you want for your family.
Filters are rated on efficiency by MERV rating (Minimum efficiency rating value). The higher the MERV rating the smaller the particles the filter is able to remove from the air. To give you a frame of reference, a standard inexpensive fiberglass throw away filter is about a MERV rating of 1. As you look through the filter, you notice you can see through it. It is not very dense and is not effective at filtering small particles. The higher the MERV rating the more efficient the filter and the smaller the particles the filter is able to remove from the air.
Humidifiers are used in the winter to put moisture back in the home. When outside air is dry or the humidity in the air is less than 20- 30%, the skin starts to lose moisture. This can lead to dry, cracked or itchy skin. It can also dry out nasal passages causing sinus discomfort, headaches and bloody noses. Humidity is also important to your wooden floors and furniture. Low humidity can cause wood to crack.
Ultra Violet (UV) Lights
The UV light is installed in your ductwork near the coil. The light treats the air as it passes over the light. UV Lights are effective in killing biologic growth such mold, mildew, and bacteria.
